Isabeau Maxwell grew up having dogs, but at a time when she became an adult and had two kids - she was currently dogless.
An email chain came through to her about a dog in need of being rescued from a puppy mill, so she jumped at the notice – on Christmas Eve nonetheless – and drove hours with her husband to make it happen.
When she arrived, she saw the horrific setup that this person had with dogs in cages and a terrible smell. Just overall not great conditions. The dog she had come to rescue, a cocker spaniel, came running up to her and they knew they needed each other.
Although senior dogs can sometimes take a little bit to adjust and acclamate to their new homes and owners, Apple instantly felt comfortable and made herself at home right away. She did have some abandonment fears at first, but those she got used to as well.
Apple, named after being the “apple of my eye” by Beau, had a brief but impactful period spent with Isabeau. This led to her eventually started her own organization, Love for Senior Paws, as a way for her to help contribute to more people being aware of senior dogs and how great they can be – as they’re often overlooked. It’s a way for Apple’s legacy to live on and for other dogs like her to find their forever homes.
About The Guest - Isabeau Maxwell
Isabeau Maxwell had grown up with dogs when she was younger, but she didn’t adopt her first senior dog until she was a mother with two kids. It was then when Apple came into her life and instantly changed her perspective. Eventually, Isabeau started Love for Senior Paws - an organization whose mission is to advocate and support senior animals.
